My mother told me
She did done scold me
Told me to clean and dust my room
“Use the dust buster
And feather duster.
After that, pick up the broom.”
I was too busy, all in a tizzy
Texting WhatsApp with my friends
Mom said, “I bet–
You will forget–
You’ll regret it in the end!”
In my disorder
I just ignored her
Trying to minimize the mess
I said, “No, mater, I’ll do it later
Chill, ma. Don’t get yourself stressed!”
She said, I’ll bet you will forget
Trying to scare me in a fright
You think it’s funny
But the dust bunnies
They will get you in the night
Yawn, crawl into bed
Hears dust bunnies laughing
That night I lay in bed
Pondering what my mother said
I hid ‘neath the duvet
The dust bunnies came to play
The revenge of the dust bunnies started
And the wisdom my mother imparted
Their revenge made me scream broken hearted
As they jumped up and down on my bed
I kept trying to hide ‘neath the cover
Wishing I had just listened to mother
As the dust bunnies chuckled, they’d hover
And they pounced on my pillow and head
In their dust bunny gibberish they screamed
And my mother was right, so it seemed
It just seemed like a really bad dream
‘Cause the bunnies came out like she said
They were hopping and acting insane
They were playing my video games
They were making a huge paper chain
From the homework I left on my desk
In their dust bunny gibberish they screamed
And my dream was a nightmare, it seemed
All those mischievous dust bunnies schemed
They were scary and very grotesque
Back and forth on my bed they all darted
All their antics had me broken hearted
And the wisdom my mother imparted
How I wished I had cleaned up my mess
And then my mother spoke
From my nightmare I awoke
I panicked and arose
I’d sweated through all my clothes
I rose, threw off the sheets
And jumped upright to my feet
I switched on all the lights
And gathered my toys that night
I grabbed the pan and broom
And swept my entire room
Alas, I should have known
Those bunnies stole my iphone!
